Doctors, Pizza, Lions, & Candy...oh MY!!

Back in March Carlie had a doctor's appointment at Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in the morning.  We decided since we were traveling all the way to Portland that we would make a fun family day out of it.

We first went to our favorite pizza joint in downtown Portland - Hot Lips.  Oh so yummy - New York Style Pizza by the slice and crazy yummy bread sticks.

 It was kinda a chilly day, but we went to the Oregon Zoo anyways.....What a GREAT choice.  Nobody was there - we practically had the zoo to ourselves.  It was so nice to not fight the crowds.

 Look how cool the lions posed for me - just call me the Lion whisperer.

 After a super time at the zoo we went to a candy shop/old fashioned malt shop called FIZZ - Soda Pop & Candy Shop.  It was an AMAZING place.  It had EVERY candy from my childhood and I had NEVER seen so many types of bottled soda pop - so cool!!  Then they have a counter where you can order flavored sodas, shakes, and floats.  Corey wanted to go there because they have a little display of Ramblin' Rod (local children's TV star that my husband loved growing up). 

If you are ever in SE Portland it is a fun place to go with kids or without.

 

We had so much fun and DEFINITELY overdosed on sugar :)  Here is a picture of Berkeley with a blue mouth from his candy and PASSED out in his car seat.
